Two Cabinet Secretaries are set to appear in the National Assembly on April 19, 2023, to respond to Members' Questions. The Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Climate Change and Forestry, Hon. Sopian Tuya, and the Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport, Hon. Kipchumba Murkomen,EGH, will be addressing related to their respective fields.

Hon. Soipan Tuya is expected to respond to Members Questions regarding the significant reduction in forest cover, despite the ban of maize cultivation in the Plantation Establishment and Livelihood Improvement Scheme (PELIS) by Hon. Caroline Ng’elechei, MP (Elgeyo Marakwet County). She will also address rising concerns about the effects of heat waves in the country and its impact, raised by Hon. Abdul Haro, MP (Mandera South Constituency).

The CS for Roads and Transport, Hon. Kipchumba Murkomen, is expected to give responses on the construction of a footbridge at the Hilton Garden Inn crossing. Hon. Paul Abuor, MP (Rongo Constituency), will also be seeking answers regarding the delayed completion of the Riosiri-Rongo University-Cham Gi Wadu Road.

Several legislators, including Hon. Gideon Mulyungi, MP (Mwingi Central Constituency), Hon. Charles Ngusya, MP (Mwingi West Constituency), Hon. Peter Masara, MP (Suna West Constituency), Hon. Tom Odege, MP (Nyatike Constituency), and Hon. John Njuguna, MP (Kiambaa Constituency), will be seeking answers on the status of completion of various road projects and the pending bills owed to contractors for various road projects in the country and the reasons behind their delay in completion.

In addition, Mr. Murkomen, who heads the Roads and Transport docket, is expected to provide details on the measures put in place to ease traffic congestion in the city since the Nairobi Expressway became operational. 

The Members of the National Assembly anticipate that the Cabinet Secretaries' responses will provide insight into the issues affecting their respective sectors.
