SENATE STANDING COMMITTEE ON LABOUR AND SOCIAL WELFARE INDUCTION RETREAT

The Senate Committee on Labour and Social Welfare chaired by Senator Julius Murgor Recha, MP today commenced a four-day retreat program in Naivasha, Nakuru County.

 

In the retreat period the committee intends to meet key stakeholders including: Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare, 

Ministry of Public Service, Gender and Affirmative action, 

State Department of Diaspora Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign and 

Diaspora affairs, Public Service Commission, Council of Governor and

National Youth Service.

 

The Committee Chairperson on his opening remarks stated the objectives of the induction workshop in discussing their functions, policy direction, challenges, legislative gaps, and opportunities.

Nairobi Governor H.E Hon. Johnson Sakaja who serves as the chairperson Labour and Social welfare in the Council of Governors in his address highlighted possible areas of collaboration including but not limited to reviewing and ammendment of existing labour laws and policies to align them to the constitution, establishing a legal framework to provide for pension for county employees, establishing a framework to guide training for Doctors on postgraduate, establish a mechanism/framework for intercounty transfers.
