The Speaker of the National Assembly Hon. Justin Muturi this morning held talks with the new Commissioners at the Salaries and Remuneration Commission. The Commissioners led by the Chairperson Ms. Lyn Cherop Mengich and the Vice Chairperson, Hon. Dalmas Otieno, had called on the Speaker in Parliament, in his capacity as the Chairperson, Parliamentary Service Commission.

Speaker Muturi glad about their candid deliberations, undertook that the National Assembly, and indeed Parliament would continue to engage with the Commission, so as to facilitate the execution of their mandate.

Article 249 (3) of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010, provides that Parliament shall allocate adequate funds to enable each Commission and independent office to perform its functions.

The new team of Commissioners was sworn in last month and was making their maiden official visit to Parliament. The Clerk of the Senate who is also the Secretary to the Parliamentary Service Commission, Mr. Jeremiah Nyegenye and his National Assembly Counterpart, Mr. Michael Sialai, attended the meeting.
