Induction of Members of the National Assembly
The induction of Members of the National Assembly of the 13th Parliament kicks off tomorrow and is scheduled to run through the week.
The exercise which involves taking the legislators through the operations and procedures of the House, is geared towards equiping them with tools to effectively execute their mandate.
The forum is expected to address among others, the relationship between Parliament and the Judiciary, the state of Kenya’s economy in view of the difficult economic times that the country has been facing occasioned by the COVID-19 Pandemic and other related issues. Members will also be given a true picture of the country’s economy and the role they can play to address the situation.
Following the recent ruling by the Supreme Court of Kenya declaring the Constituency Development Fund Act, 2013 as unconstitutional, Members will be informed on the consequences of this ruling and the future of the National Government Constituency Development Fund.
Among the facilitators expected to address the forum include: the Hon. Justice Martha Koome; Chief Justice & President of the Supreme Court of Kenya, Dr. Patrick Njoroge; Governor, Central Bank of Kenya,
