GOVERNOR IRIA LEADS DEVCON STEERING COMMITTEE IN BRIEFING SPEAKER LUSAKA

Members of the Devolution Conference multi-agency Steering Committee led by CoG Vice-Chair, HE Mwangi wa Iria today called on Speaker of the Senate, Rt Hon Kenneth Lusaka at Parliament Buildings.

Governor wa Iria, who is Co-Chair of the Steering Committee, briefed Speaker Lusaka on the preparedness of the 6th Annual Devolution Conference that takes place in Kirinyaga County, March 4 to 8, 2019.

While appreciating the status of preparedness for the Conference that brings together 6,000 delegates, the Senate Speaker noted that the 6th Conference is critical for the success of the Big Four.

“Last year’s conference focused on realigning development programmes with the government’s “Big Four” agenda,” said Speaker Lusaka.

“This year’s theme ‘Deliver. Transform. Measure. Remaining Accountable’ sets us out on the right path. This definitely will add to the gains of the previous conference in actualizing the Big Four and by extension: securing the promise of devolution.”

On his part, CoG Vice Chair, wa Iria noted that in keeping with established tradition, the Devolution Conference shall remain very inclusive catering for the needs of all players in the devolution family.

Present at the preparedness briefing were: Sen Kinyua Nderitu (Laikipia), Sen Irungu Kangatta (Muranga), Sen Rose Nyamunga (Nominated); Hon Eric Mwangi, Sec-Gen, CAF; CoG CEO, Jacqueline Mogeni and representatives from the Office of the President and Ministry of Devolution and ASAL.
