CPAC DIRECTS THARAKA NITHI GOVERNOR TO TAKE ADMINISTRATIVE ACTION AGAINST REVENUE COLLECTION OFFICERS
The County Public Accounts Committee of the Senate has directed the Governor of Tharaka Nithi County Muthomi Njuki to take administrative action against his revenue collection officers..
The Committee issued the directive when the governor appeared before it to defend the County's revenue and expenditure account for the 2019/20 financial year.
The committee was forced to issue the directive after it emerged that most of the own source revenue collected by the County Revenue officers is never banked in the County Revenue Fund as required by the law.
"The County is bleeding. We have a situation where revenue is collected but is not banked," CPAC chairman Moses Kajwang noted.
He added: "Go back home and take administrative action against revenue collection officers."
In his report on the County financial accounts, Auditor General Nancy Gathungu notes that inspection fees of 43 slaughter houses across the county and revenue from artificial insemination services were not supported with banking slips showing revenue banked.
Governor Njuki admitted there is a mistake and promised to take action against the officers
