The National Assembly Departmental Committee on Education has stepped in to assist final-year Bachelor of Pharmacy students from the University of Nairobi to secure internship placements who missed the 2025/2026 internship cohort due to delayed release of their final examination results.

The Committee, led by Hon. Eve Obara , met with affected students in Parliament following a formal petition presented to the House, in which the students decried the delayed release of their final-year results, terming it a violation of their fundamental rights.

The Conflict of Interest Bill, 2023, has been signed into law by President William Ruto.

The Act consolidates various laws relating to conflict of interest and repeals the Public Officer Ethics Act (Cap. 185B), establishing a comprehensive framework for managing conflict of interest in the discharge of public duties.

Kenya’s Parliament Football Club (Bunge FC) led by team Captain Hon. (Dr.) Otiende Amolo today undertook a courtesy visit to the National Football Team (Harambee Stars) in training. Members of the Decentralized Funds Accounts Committee have dismissed reports by the Auditor General Nancy Gathungu accusing MPs of alleged misuse of National Government- Constituency Development Funds in the financial year 2023/2024.

The Senate Standing Committee on Labour and Social Welfare has summoned the Cabinet Secretary (CS) for the National Treasury to appear before it, rejecting further representation by junior officials. This follows Tuesday’s session where Principal Secretary Cyrell Wagunda Odede was sent away, with Senators insisting only the CS can address long-standing grievances raised in multiple petitions.

The Senate will conduct its sittings in Busia County from 6th to 10th October 2025, following the approval of a Motion moved by Senate Majority Whip and Kakamega County Senator Dr. Boni Khalwale on Thursday, 24th July 2025.

Tetu MP, Hon. Geoffrey Wandeto, has demanded answers from the government over the decades-long delay in paying salaries, terminal dues, and other benefits to former employees of the defunct Nyayo Tea Zones in Tetu.

The Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Moses Wetang'ula has conveyed a message from President William Ruto nominating Mr. Pius Angasa for appointment as a member of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK).

Reading the communication on the floor of the House, the Speaker Wetang'ula noted that the nomination is in line with Section 11(2) of the Central Bank of Kenya Act, Cap. 491, which requires that directors and the chairperson of the CBK Board be appointed by the President with the approval of Parliament.

In its continued engagement of Higher Learning Institutions on Audit Reports, the Public Investments Committee on Education and Governance today undertook an inspection tour of Machakos University, and held a meeting with the management led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Joyce Agalo.

The Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport, Mr. Davis Chirchir, has informed the National Assembly that the government is actively addressing pending bills to ensure the completion of stalled road projects across the country.

Appearing before the House to respond to questions under Standing Order 42A(6B), the CS explained that contractors had abandoned works on several roads due to delayed payments.

Members of Parliament sought clarity on the status of roads in their constituencies, particularly those left incomplete after contractors downed their tools.

Lawmakers have supported a motion that calls on Government to fast-track the implementation of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and make it mandatory for all public officers to seek treatment in public health facilities

The motion sponsored by Hon. Sabina Chege directs the Government through the Ministry of Health implements the Kenya Universal Healthcare Coverage Policy 2020-2030 and introduce a policy on mandatory use of public health care facilities by all civil servants, public officers and State officers in the country.

Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Moses Wetang’ula, has conveyed a message from H.E President William Ruto referring the Pensions (Amendment) Bill (National Assembly Bill No. 44 of 2022) back to the House for reconsideration in line with Article 115 of the Constitution.

The Bill, which was sponsored by Hon. Didmus Barasa (Kimilili), seeks to amend the Pensions Act (Cap 189) to provide statutory timelines within which pension should be paid to a retired officer. It was passed by the National Assembly on 7th August 2022 and presented to the President for assent.

Members of Parliament have raised serious concerns over the prolonged delay in the construction of the Wajir–Griftu–Eldas–Buna–Bute–Moyale international road corridor, a project they say holds immense economic and regional significance.

The Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, the Creative Economy and Sports, Salim Mvurya has told the Senate that Kenya is making significant progress in preparing stadiums and training facilities ahead of hosting the African Nations Championship (CHAN) in 2025 and the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in 2027.

“Final inspections for the facilities designated for CHAN 2025 were completed in June,” said CS Mvurya, adding that facilities earmarked for AFCON 2027 are under construction, with completion anticipated between December 2025 and June 2026.

The session turned into a broad review of government efforts to address transport infrastructure needs across counties.

The National Assembly has commenced the process of reconsidering two Bills legislation following their referral by President William Ruto, who returned the Bills with reservations as provided for under Article 115 of the Constitution.
