Senator Mariam Sheikh Omar is the nominated senator representing Mandera County. She is currently the Vice Chair of the standing committee on health, A member of the standing committee on lands, environment and natural resources and also a member of the Standing committee on County Public Accounts.

Senator Mariam Sheikh Omar was born in Mandera; she holds Master of Business – Accounting (MBA), Mt Kenya University 2014; Bachelor of Business Administration - Accounting, Kampala University 2011; CPA- K (Certified Public Account) and a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK); personnel Management, KNEC. She was nominated to parliament by United Democratic Movement (UDM) party which is now part of the ruling Kenya kwanza coalition.

Senator Mariam Sheikh Omar’s career spans over 15 years. She began by working as an accountant; then a finance field officer with the EMACK Aga Khan foundation; From 2012 to 2017 she worked with the Northern Water Service Board as a management accountant; Until her nomination in 2022, she served as the CEO of Frontier Institute of Professional and Management Studies.
