President William Ruto has applauded Parliament for erecting a modern building that will facilitate effective discharge of duties by legislators .

 

Speaking during the official launch of the Bunge Tower on Thursday morning, President Ruto commended the Parliamentary Service Commission led by the National Assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Moses Wetang`ula for spearheading the project to completion.

 

He assured Parliament that his government will continue supporting projects aimed at enabling Members of Parliament to serve Kenyans better.

The Senate Standing Committee on Finance and Budget chaired by Mandera County Senator Ali Roba this Tuesday held a meeting with the Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA) and the Council of Governors (CoG) led by the Council`s Chairperson, Governor Anne Waiguru where they deliberated on the Division of Revenue Bill, 2024.

 

The Division of Revenue Bill, 2024 was introduced in the National Assembly, debated and passed without amendments in March 2024 before being referred to the Senate for consideration as stipulated by Article 110(4) of the Constitution.

The Senate Standing Committee on Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries visited Embu County on a fact-finding mission as it intensified its probe into the distribution of alleged counterfeit fertilizer across the country.

 

The committee, led by Chairperson James Kamau Murango (Kirinyaga), visited the Embu National Cereals and Produce Board’s store from which 2,320 bags of the suspected GPC counterfeit fertilizer—labelled KEL Green NPK 10.26.20—had been sold and dispatched.

The Senate Committee on Trade, Industrialization and Tourism met with Murang’a Governor Dr Irungu Kang’ata to deliberate on the reasons for the closure of Murang’a County Creameries Factory. 

 

This comes after Murang’a Senator Joe Nyutu raised the issue on the Floor of the House through a request for a statement in which he sought the Committee to explain the county government's plans to revive the factory and ensure farmers continue selling their milk.
