The National Assembly Departmental Committee on Health is set to launch a public inquiry into activities at the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF). This has been prompted by the widespread allegation of collusion between NHIF officials and private healthcare facilities to defraud the national insurer. Speaking on Tuesday after an interactive meeting with top management at the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF), the Chairperson of the Committee Hon.

The Public Debt and Privatization Committee chaired by Hon. Abdi Shurie (Balambala) has been apprised on the Supplementary Estimates II for Financial Year 2022/2023 by the Parliamentary Budget Office (PBO).

The Speaker of the National Assembly, the Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Moses  Wetang’ula, with his Senate counterpart the Rt. Hon. (Sen.) Amason Kingi yesterday witnessed His Excellency  President Dr. William Ruto assent to the Finance Bill (2023) and the Appropriations Bill (2023). The President also approved the Supplementary Appropriations (No.2) Bill, 2023.

The National Assembly Committee on Labour held an approval hearing for the nominee for appointment as a member of the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) Dr. Phylis Wambui Wagacha.

The Committee chaired by Hon. Erick Muchangi (Runyenjes) inquired into the nominee's educational background and its relevance to the position, gaps in SRC and ways to address them, push and pull between the Commission and Parliament, appraisals of workers, issues of ghost workers, and matters concerning working hours.

Members of the National Assembly Committee on Housing, Urban Planning and Public Works have questioned officials of the Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development over the collapsed Boma Yangu Project. Members were particularly concerned about how the Ministry handled the project.
