The Business Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2024 has been committed to two departmental Committees for consideration and public participation following its First Reading on 13th November 2024. 

The Bill, sponsored by the Leader of the Majority Party, Hon. Kimani Ichung’wah, seeks to amend nine Acts of Parliament to enhance regulatory oversight, streamline processes, and promote economic stability.

President (Dr.) William Ruto is scheduled to deliver his third State of the Nation Address to Parliament on Thursday, 21st November 2024.
 
The Speaker of the National Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Moses Wetang'ula made this Communication. He said, "I wish to inform the House that I have received a message from His Excellency the President conveying that he intends to deliver the 2023 State of the Nation address to Parliament."

Speaker Wetang'ula further informed the House of a joint sitting to be held in the National Assembly.

The Senate Committee on National Security, Defence and Foreign Relations convened a high-stakes session on Thursday to address mounting concerns over significant delays in compensating police officers injured in the line of duty. With a backlog of unresolved claims, lawmakers probed systemic failures, confronting officials over prolonged waits for officers who, despite fulfilling all requirements, remain uncompensated.

The Senate Committee on Finance and Budget convened today to review public participation submissions received concerning the proposed amendments to the Public Finance Management (PFM) Act.

 

The session centred around the PFM Amendment Bill, which aims to streamline budget processes and enhance fiscal discipline among County Governments.

Sen. David Wakoli (Bungoma) has sought the status of remittances to the Bungoma County Government employees' pension scheme from 2022 to date.

 

While requesting a Statement from the Standing Committee on Labour and Social Welfare on the floor of the House this afternoon, tasked the Labour Committee to state the providers of pension scheme services to employees of the Bungoma County Government and explain whether staff join on voluntary basis or it is mandatory to all employees of the County.
