SENATE STANDING COMMITTEE ON AGRICULTURE,LIVESTOCK AND FISHERIES CONSIDERS A STATEMENT SOUGHT BY SEN. HAMIDA KIBWANA ON THE STATE OF NUT INDUSTRY IN KENYA.

The Senate Standing Committee on Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries led by Embu Sen. Alexander Munyi Mundigi, MP, (Vice Chairperson) held a virtual meeting to consider a Statement sought by Sen. Hamida Kibwana, MP, on the State of the Nut Industry in Kenya.

The Senator had requested the committee in the statement to;

1. Provide an updated list of the areas under Nut farming in Kenya;

DEFENCE AND FOREIGN AFFAIRS COMMITTEE TOURS UN OFFICE IN NAIROBI

The National Assembly Departmental Committee on Defence, Intelligence and Foreign Relations has today toured the Kenya Mission to the United Nations Office in Nairobi.

The  Committee led by Vice Chairperson Hon. Maj. (Rtd) Bashir Abdullah (Mandera-North)  assessed the Mission's operations, challenges and opportunities in addition to enhancing their knowledge of the Mission's mandate.

THREE CABINET SECRETARIES TO APPEAR IN THE SENATE THIS WEDNESDAY TO ANSWER QUESTIONS FROM SENATORS.

Three Cabinet Secretaries will appear before the Senate this Wednesday to answer questions from Senators.

The Cabinet Secretaries for Interior and National Administration Prof. Kithure Kindiki, Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development Zachariah Njeru and Salim Mvurya of Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs will appear before Senate pursuant to Standing Order 51A (5).

The three are scheduled to respond to questions from the Legislators on Wednesday 26, April 2023 beginning at 9:30am.

KENYA VALUES THE PAN AFRICAN PARLIAMENT SAYS SPEAKER KINGI

Senate Speaker Amason Kingi has said Kenya values the institution of Pan African Parliament (PAP) which is why it sends the best among its legislators to represent it in the continental legislative body.

The Speaker further noted that Kenya is a greater believer in Pan Africanism and the continen5tal integration that is why it values the business of PAP.

“In a much-divided continent, Africa needs a strong voice in international affairs. It is our expectation that PAP will offer that much needed voice,” said Speaker Kingi.
