The National Assembly will file responses in a High Court case where a petitioner is challenging the legality of sections of the Penal Code relating to some capital offences.

In a notice filed before court, the National Assembly has appointed a counsel to represent it in the petition filed by Katiba Institute which has listed Parliament of Kenya as the sixth respondent.

The 17th Meeting of the Bureau of East African Community (EAC) Speakers convened in Nairobi on Wednesday, May 29, 2024.

The gathering brought together regional Speakers, united in their pursuit of integration, cooperation and shared prosperity.

𝐄𝐌𝐁𝐑𝐀𝐂𝐄 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐂𝐇 𝐏𝐄𝐀𝐂𝐄, 𝐒𝐏𝐄𝐀𝐊𝐄𝐑 𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐈 𝐓𝐄𝐋𝐋𝐒 𝐊𝐄𝐍𝐘𝐀𝐍𝐒

Speaker of the Senate Amason Jeffah Kingi, EGH has appealed to leaders to embrace and preach peace across the country.

 

Speaking during the National Prayer Breakfast held this Thursday, Speaker Kingi noted the need for leaders to be on the forefront in preaching peace and reconciliation among Kenyans for a better Kenya.

 

“We must now adorn the mantle of ambassadors of peace, unity and reconciliation at the grassroots as we engage with the people we represent,” said Speaker Kingi.

The First Lady Rachel Ruto has today led women drawn from various parts of the country in the inauguration of the women`s convocation ahead of Thursday`s National Prayer Breakfast.

Speaking during the event, the First Lady appealed to Kenyans to incorporate prayer in their daily activities urging them to remember praying for God`s grace among leaders even as they govern the country.

She commended Parliamentary Christian Women Caucus for initiating the idea of the convocation urging them to continue promoting the initiative.

In a consultative meeting held today at the Bunge Tower, the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, chaired by Senator James Murango of Kirinyaga County, engaged with the Embassy of Japan to discuss Japanese government initiatives in Kenya's agriculture, livestock, and blue economy sectors.
