Standing Committee on Energy held a meeting to to consider the alleged irregularities in the
construction of Line 5 (Mombasa-Nairobi) Pipeline.ย
The expected government officials to appear before the committee were Cabinet Secretary for Treasury, John Mbadi and Kenya Pipeline Managing Director, the Auditor General; and the Director General,Public ProcurementRegulatory Authority(PPRA).ย

Managing Director of Kenya Pipeline, Joe Sang sent apologies since he had travelled to Saudi Arabia on official duty.ย

The Cabinet Secretary for Treasury, John Mbadi did not give reasons for not appearing before the Senate committee on Energy.ย

The Auditor General sent a representative but the committee turned down her appearance since she was not a substantive holder of the office.ย

Senator Ole Kina said that the representative did not take oath of office therefore, she could not represent the auditor general.

The committee through the chairman, Nyeri Senator Wamatinga Wahome, resolved to invite again the cabinet secretary for treasury and the managing director for Kenya Pipeline.

Senators present were Turkana Senator James Lomenen, Tana River Senator Danson Mungatana, Senator Dr. Oburu Odinga, Wajir Senator Abbas Mohamed Sheikh and Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina.
