‘Champion refugee reforms’: Speaker Lusaka urges World MPs

GENEVA, Switzerland – 26th March, 2018. Speaker of the Senate, Rt Hon Kenneth Lusaka Monday called on MPs at the 138th Inter-parliamentary Union (IPU) General Assembly to spearhead migrant and refugee reforms in their countries.

While making his contribution at the Assembly attended by 751 MPs, Speaker Lusaka noted that migration reforms and refugee protection were of crucial importance but remained a thorn in the flesh of many countries.

NDI Pledges to Partner with the National Assembly in the Promotion of Parliamentary Democracy

The National Democratic Institute (NDI) is keen to support the growth of Parliamentary Democracy in Kenya. Speaking when he called on the Speaker of the National Assembly Hon. Justin Muturi, the Global President of the Institute Mr. Kenneth Wollack lauded the steps that Parliament has taken towards the implementation of the constitution of Kenya 2010, and its increased vigour in the discharge of its now expanded mandate in over-sighting the executive.

UK High Commissioner pays Speaker Lusaka Courtesy Call

The United Kingdom pledged to strengthen areas of cooperation with the Kenyan Senate headed by the Speaker, Kenneth Lusaka.

Speaking when he paid a courtesy call on the Senate Speaker, UK High Commissioner to Kenya, HE Nic Hailey noted that his country greatly supported devolution.

“We are great supporters of the devolution process and I dare say there can be no better man for the Senate Speaker position.  Having ascended from being a Governor you have a unique grasp of county affairs and can effectively bridge the gap,” noted Hailey.

The Post-Election Seminar Kicks off in Mombasa

The Post-Election Seminar kicked off this morning at the Pride Inn Paradise Hotel in Mombasa, with calls on Members to nurture parliamentary democracy as well as entrench themselves as the vanguards of the welfare of the people, in between elections.
