Parliament to hold approval hearings for Cabinet Secretaries, Ambassadors, and Diplomats in January 2025

The Committee on Appointments is set to conduct approval hearings for three nominees proposed by the President for Cabinet Secretary Positions on January 14, 2025, at County Hall, Parliament Buildings.

The National Assembly Committee on Defence, Intelligence, and Foreign Relations, chaired by Hon.Nelson Koech (Belgut), has vetted three of the four individuals nominated by the President for appointment as Ambassadors, High Commissioners, and Diplomatic Representatives.

The National Assembly Departmental Committee on Labour, chaired by Hon. Karemba Muchangi (Runyenjes), has concluded approval hearings for nominees seeking appointment as Vice-Chairperson and Members of the Public Service Commission (PSC).

Ms. Mary Wanjira Kimonye, the nominee for Vice-Chairperson, acknowledged challenges in human resource development within the public sector. 

The National Assembly will convene for special sittings on Thursday, January 16th, 2025.

The Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Moses Wetang'ula authorized the special sitting upon a request from the Leader of the Majority Party, Hon. Kimani Inchung'wa.

The special sittings will be held in two sessions; a morning session starting at 10.00 am and an afternoon session commencing at 2.30 pm.
