The National Assembly Departmental Committee on Education is set to probe allegations of cheating in the 2022 KCSE. According the Chairperson of the Committee Hon. Julius Melly the exercise will be  thorough and will involve an in-depth probe of the whole examination process.

Hon. Melly today said the exercise planned for next week will be a holistic process. He  appealed to members the public to turn up in large numbers and submit their views to the House team when they start their regional visits on Monday 20th March 2022.

“We will look into the setting of the exams, transportation, marking and even find out if the circumstances during marking affected the 2022 KCSE results in any way,” Hon Melly told journalists after a meeting of the Committee to deliberate on the logistics of the exercise. Members of the 15-Member Committee have been split into two teams. One team will focus l on the Western and Rift Valley regions  while the other will concentrate on the Central, Eastern and Coastal part of the country.  

According to the schedule of the regional visits by the committee, on March 20, 2023 one team will be in Nakuru County at the Rift Valley Regional Commissioners plenary hall. On the same day, the other team will be in Nyeri County for a public engagement at Nyeri youth empowerment center in Ruring'u.

On March 21, 2023, the teams will collect views from the public at Uasin Gishu Multi-purpose Hall (Uasin Gishu County) and at Kenya School of Government in Embu County.

The third day of this exercise will see Committee Members collect views from the public at Masinde Muliro University Hall (Kakamega County) and  Machakos Youth Center (Machakos County). 

Residents of Nyamira County will have an opportunity to make their submissions before the MPs on March 23, 2023 at Nyamira CDF hall. On the same date, another team from the committee will be at the Kenya Coast National Polytechnic Hall.

March 24, 2023 will be last day of the regional visits, with the twin teams from the committee conducting public hearings at Grace Ogot hall (Kisumu County) and Wajir- ICT hall (Wajir County).
