National Assembly resumes from one week recess

The National Assembly which has been on a one week recess resumed sittings this week on Tuesday November 6, 2018. The House according to the Calender is scheduled undertake legislative business until December 6th, 2018 when it is expected members will break for the long recess that will take the House upto February 11, 2019. To date the House under the leadership of Speaker Justin Muturi and his deputy Moses Cheboi has passed 12 bills which have also been assented into law by the President.  Four bills have sailed through second reading and are now awaiting Committee stage before moving to the third reading and passage. 13 bills have been passed and sent to the Senate for concurrence while 18 others are on second reading. Four bills with financial implication and emanating from the Senate have been forwarded to the Parliamentary Budget office for scrutiny in accordance with Standing order 143. One Bill has been lost while four others have been withdrawn.  The following is the current status of business in the House.
