The Consideration of the Finance Bill, 2024 has commenced with the First Reading of the Bill on Monday, May 13, 2024.

The House convened for a Special Sitting whose main objective was to receive the Report of the Special Select Committee on the removal from office of Hon. Mithika Linturi, the Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture and Livestock Development.

𝗛𝗜𝗚𝗛 𝗖𝗢𝗨𝗥𝗧 𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗢𝗪𝗦 𝗝𝗢𝗜𝗡𝗗𝗘𝗥 𝗢𝗙 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗦𝗘𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗘 𝗧𝗢 𝗔 𝗣𝗘𝗧𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗙𝗜𝗟𝗘𝗗 𝗔𝗚𝗔𝗜𝗡𝗦𝗧 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗔𝗟 𝗔𝗦𝗦𝗘𝗠𝗕𝗟𝗬 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗧𝗪𝗢 𝗢𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗦

The High Court has allowed an application supported by the National Assembly for the joinder of the Senate as an interested party to a petition challenging a recently enacted health law.

Justice Alfred Mabeya, Justice Robert Limo and Justice Freda Mugambi allowed the application during a mention of the case in which the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Union (KMPDU) and three other petitioners are challenging the legality of the recently enacted Social Health Insurance Act, 2023.

𝗕𝗨𝗗𝗚𝗘𝗧 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗣𝗥𝗜𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦 𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗠𝗜𝗧𝗧𝗘𝗘 𝗧𝗢 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗗𝗨𝗖𝗧 𝗣𝗨𝗕𝗟𝗜𝗖 𝗛𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗜𝗡𝗚𝗦 𝗔𝗖𝗥𝗢𝗦𝗦 𝟮𝟬 𝗖𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗧𝗜𝗘𝗦

The Budget and Appropriations Committee is set to conduct public hearings in 20 counties across the country, on the Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure, for the Financial Year 2024/25 and the Medium-Term.

The Public hearings will commence on Wednesday, 15th of May 2024 and conclude on Friday, 17th of May, 2024.

Members of the public and stakeholders can also submit their written memoranda through the office of the Clerk of the National Assembly, on or before Monday, the 20th of May, 2024; by 5pm.

The National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) Committee has completed inspection tours of ICT hubs developed through the kitty's budget in the Central and Upper Eastern Regions. 

The Upper Eastern delegation was led by Committee Chairperson, Hon. Musa Sirma (Eldama Ravine) while the Central Kenya team was under the leadership of Committee Vice-Chairperson, Hon. Tandaza Sawa (Matuga), and Dagoretti-North MP, Hon. Beatrice Elachi.

The Unclaimed Financial Assets (Amendment) Bill, 2024 was introduced in the National Assembly on Monday, May 13, 2024.

The Bill sponsored by Leader of the Majority Party, Hon. Kimani Ichung’wah (Kikuyu) seeks to make amendments to the principal act to accord claimants of assets more powers to make determinations on transferring of unclaimed assets
