The Speaker of the National Assembly, the Rt. Hon. Moses Wetang’ula witnessed H.E President William Samoei Ruto sign into law the Statute Law (Miscellaneous Amendment) Bill 2024. The Bill amends 16 Acts of Parliament, touching on crucial areas that impact the nation's future.

The amendments cover a wide range of sectors including; strengthening the Office of the Attorney-General to enable it fulfil its constitutional duties, streamlining the Administration of Justice, and advancing efforts towards environmental protection and conservation.

Other key amendments aim at improving registration procedures for trusts, promoting University Education, and enhancing national security measures.

Notably, the Bill aims at improving the collection of training levies by KRA, earmarked specifically for paying intern wages and funding TVETs and other institutions of higher learning. Further, It also clarifies the training and practice of veterinary surgeons and para-professionals, and enhances accountability and transparency within the Civil Aviation Authority.

Β It also focusses on increasing access to clean energy for low-income households and promoting local manufacturing.

The enactment of the Constitution 2010 provided a significant platform for continuous review of the existing laws to align it with the evolving needs and realities of our nation.
