Five National Assembly CommitteesΒ hosted a delegation of Political Counsellors of the Member States of European Union (EU).
The five Committees; the Budget and Appropriations Committee, the Departmental Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs, the Departmental Committee on Trade, Industry and Cooperatives, the Departmental Committee on Defence, Intelligence and Foreign Relations and the Constitutional Implementation Oversight Committee jointly deliberated on a range of issues related to the EU-Kenya relations.
The delegation comprising of 16 diplomats was on a study tour of the National Assembly to acquaint themselves with the mandate of legislators as well as the legislative processes of the House.
Speaking on behalf of the Kenyan delegation, the Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Defence, Intelligence and Foreign Relations Hon. Nelson Koech, conveyed his appreciation to the Counsellors for choosing to visit the National Assembly and for the insightful deliberations the two teams had.
The EU and Kenya have a long -standing partnership-covering Political, Development, Economic and Security Cooperation.
The EU and its Member States support the Government of Kenya through a Joint Cooperation Strategy, which jointly implements priorities and objectives identified by the Government in her development blueprint Vision 2030, through the EUβs Medium- Term Plan.
