The National Assembly Prioritizes Key Business Ahead Of Elections

In view of the short time remaining before the next General Elections, the House Business Committee of the National Assembly has prioritised to conclude the following -

1. Approval of the Budget Estimates for the Financial Year 2017/2018 and the Medium Term.
2. The Division of Revenue Bill, 2017 and the CountyAllocation of Revenue Bill, 2017.
3. Consideration all Election-Related Regulations, including-
(i) The proposed Elections (Technology) Regulations, 2017;
(ii) The proposed Elections (Voter Registration) (Amendment) Regulations, 2017;
(iii) The proposed Elections (General Regulations) (Amendment) Regulations, 2017;
(iv) The proposed Elections (Voter Education) Regulations, 2017;
(v) The proposed Elections (Party Primaries and PartyLists) Regulations, 2017; and
(vi) All Regulations relating to Political Parties Act.
4. Consideration, at all stages, of the following Bills-
(i) The Sacco Societies (Amendment) Bill, 2016;
(ii) The Prevention of TortureBill, 2016; and
(iii) The Statute Law(Miscellaneous Amendments) (No. 2) Bill, 2016.
(iv) The Nairobi International FinancialCentre Bill, 2016;
(v) The President'sAward Bill, 2017;
(vi) The LegalMetrologyBill, 2017;
(vii) The Election Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2017;
(viii) The National Cohesion and Integration (Amendment) Bill, 2017;
(ix) The Appropriation Bill, 2017;
(x) The Equalization Fund Bill, 2017; and
(xi) The FinanceBill, 2017.
It is expected that the National Assembly will proceed for recess between April 7 and May 8, 2017 to allow for party primaries, resume for business on May 9th and thereafter resume for final recess on from June 16 to August 7, 2017.
