The Senate Standing Committee on Education, Chaired by Sen. Betty Montet, today held a consultative meeting with the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), Ms. Eveleen Mitei, accompanied by members of the Commission's Management Team led by Deputy Director of Legal Services, Mr. Allan Sitima, to deliberate on a Petition by teachers from Samburu County concerning prolonged acting appointments, staffing shortages, career progression and the overall working conditions of teachers in the County.

The Senate Standing Committee on Energy has intensified its oversight of Kenya’s proposed Nuclear Power Project in Siaya County after seeking detailed assurances from the Nuclear Power and Energy Agency (NuPEA) on project safety, environmental safeguards, community participation, financing, regulatory preparedness and socio-economic benefits.

The Senate Standing Committee on Finance and Budget has granted Migori County seven days to align its procurement compliance records with those of the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA).

 

Committee Chairperson and Mandera Senator Ali Roba noted that while written responses were presented, the supporting documentation was only delivered this morning, preventing prior interrogation by the committee and the regulatory authority.
