The County Assembly of Kericho accused Governor Eric Mutai of using his office to harass to humiliate and harass employees often a times demanding favours in return of the officers keeping their jobs.

 

In its case against the Governor, two staff former employees of the devolved unit, said the County Chief had frequently forced them to contribute money for his fund raisers and other unexplained emergency situations he found himself in in the course of his duties as the Governor.

Kericho Governor, Dr. Erick Mutai has firmly denied all allegations levelled against him by the County Assembly of Kericho as his impeachment trial kicked off before the Senate this Wednesday.

 

Appearing before the Senate plenary on the first day of the hearing, the embattled county boss dismissed the charges read to him by the Clerk of the Senate, Mr. Jeremiah Nyegenye.

The Senate Standing Committee on Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, chaired by Senator David Wakoli (Bungoma), today continued its county oversight mission, with a visit to the Kenya Seed Company Limited in Kitale. The Committee engaged the company’s Board and Management to discuss challenges and opportunities in strengthening the seed sector as a foundation for national food security.

The Senate Standing Committee on Information, Communication and Technology (ICT), led by Senator Allan Chesang (Trans Nzoia), conducted an oversight visit to Kiambu County to evaluate the implementation of its Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, which has streamlined revenue collection and service delivery.
