Staff of the Senate have been urged to embrace resilience, adaptability and teamwork as the Fifth Session gets under way on Tuesday, 10th February 2026.

Speaking during a one-day staff engagement held ahead of the resumption of sittings, the Clerk of the Senate and Secretary to the Parliamentary Service Commission, Mr Jeremiah Nyegenye called on Senate officers to commit themselves to giving their best during the Fifth Session.

The County Public Accounts Committee (CPAC) has raised concern over the manner in which the Nyandarua County Executive is managing pending bills and urged Governor Moses Kiarie Badilisha to prioritise their settlement to prevent the collapse of local businesses.

The Committee noted that the county closed the 2024/25 financial year with pending bills amounting to Sh5.1 billion against total revenue collection of Sh6.3 billion, warning that the situation raises serious questions about the county’s viability as a going concern.

The Senate’s County Public Accounts Committee (CPAC) is moving to forcibly summon Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki after he abruptly vanished from Parliament moments before facing Senators over damaging audit queries, in what lawmakers described as a blatant act of contempt and an attempt to evade accountability.

The Senate’s County Public Accounts Committee (CPAC) has directed the Office of the Auditor-General to conduct an in-depth analysis to establish the exact amount owed by the 47 county governments to their employees in delayed salaries, unremitted statutory deductions, gratuity, pension contributions, and Sacco remittances.

The Committee took the decision after expressing concern over a recurring pattern in which county governments deduct money from employees’ salaries but fail to remit the funds to the relevant agencies.

The County Public Accounts Committee (CPAC) has given Meru Governor Isaac Mutuma two weeks to submit all documents relating to the tendering and construction of public toilets at Timau Stadium, following conflicting accounts over the project’s location.

The directive came after the Governor and the Office of the Auditor-General disagreed on where the Sh1.9 million toilet project was supposed to be constructed.
