The National Assembly Committee on Defence, Intelligence and Foreign Relations has concluded the vetting of nine nominees for ambassadorial and consular posts. Committee Chair Hon. Nelson Koech said the process was critical to ensuring Kenya’s diplomatic service remains strong and effective.

The National Assembly Departmental Committee on Education, led by Tinderet MP Hon. Julius Melly, CBS, today held a consultative forum with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to deliberate on key issues affecting teachers and the broader education sector in Kenya.

The nominees for appointment as Consuls-General to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), today appeared before the National Assembly Committee on Defence, Intelligence and Foreign Relations.

Ms. Jayne Jepkorir Torotich, nominee for Consul-General of Kenya in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, pledged to prioritise economic diplomacy and efficient delivery of consular services.

The National Assembly Committee on Defence, Intelligence and Foreign Relations has put ambassadorial nominees to task on Kenya’s foreign policy priorities.

Appearing before the Committee, Amb. Joseph Musyoka Masila, nominee for Ambassador to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, was questioned on the plight of Kenyan migrant workers. Hon. Martha Wangari (Gilgil) raised alarm over the rising deaths of Kenyans, particularly women, in the Gulf state.

The National Assembly Committee on Defence, Intelligence and Foreign Relations, chaired by Hon. Nelson Koech has commenced the vetting of nominees for ambassadorial, high commissioner and consul-general positions.

The nominees include Hon. Florence Bore (Windhoek, Namibia), Amb. Anthony Muchiri (Ankara, Turkey), Amb. Lucy Kiruthu (Bangkok, Thailand), Mr. Henry Wambuma (Bujumbura, Burundi) and Mr. Abdirashid Salat Abdille (Jakarta, Indonesia).
