INVITATION FOR SUBMISSION OF MEMORANDA

The Senate Standing Committee on Lands, Environment and Natural Resounces invites members of the public and stakeholders to submit written memoranda on the Forest Conservation and Management (Amendment) Bill, 2025 (National Assembly Bills No. 38 of 2025).

 

The Bill seeks to amend the Forest Conservation and Management Act (Cap. 385) to establish a modern legal framework for forestry that is aligned with the Constitution of Kenya, contemporary global conservation practices, and the country’s environmental obligations.

The Senate has approved a Motion to hold its Plenary and Committee sittings in Kilifi County for one week, from September 21 to 25, 2026 in a move aimed at bringing parliamentary businesses closer to the people.

 

The decision is anchored in the Constitution of Kenya, Article 93, which establishes the Senate and Article 96, which outlines its mandate to represent, serve and protect the interests of counties and their governments.
