The National Assembly Committee on Defence, Intelligence and Foreign Relations has held a consultative meeting with representatives from the Kenya International Boundaries Office (KIBO) to deliberate on ongoing efforts to secure and affirm the countryโ€™s international borders.

Established in 2014, KIBO is mandated with various responsibilities, including assessing the status of international boundaries, identifying contentious sections, formulating strategies for boundary affirmation, negotiation, or defence, leading bilateral discussions with neighbouring countries, and ensuring compliance with international obligations pertaining to boundaries and territorial integrity.

Chairperson,Hon.Nelson Koech, reaffirmed the Committee's commitment to supporting border management systems through effective oversight. โ€œKenyaโ€™s sovereignty is enshrined in our Constitution. This engagement with KIBO has been enlightening. We want to protect our borders and uphold our territory,โ€ he said.

The Committee pledged continued support for KIBOโ€™s initiatives to promote peace, security, and cooperation along Kenyaโ€™s frontiers.
