The Senate Committee on Labour and Social Welfare chaired by Sen Julius Murgor (West Pokot) on Friday held a series of high-level meetings to discuss persistent gaps in youth employment, labour rights enforcement and the welfare of Kenyans working abroad.

The Senate Committee on National Security, Defence and Foreign Relations has directed the Social Health Authority (SHA), the National Police Service Commission (NPSC) and the Directorate of Occupational Safety and Health Services (DOSH) to reconcile their records regarding compensation claims lodged by police officers injured while on duty.

The Government has undertaken a series of policy and regulatory reforms to revive Kenya’s pyrethrum sector amid declining production and historical challenges affecting farmers. This was revealed this Wednesday when the Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Mutahi Kagwe, appeared before the Senate plenary to respond to questions from Senators.
