The Ministry of Interior and National Administration, Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has provided detailed security assurances ahead of the implementation of the Field Development Plan (FDP) and Production Sharing Contracts (PSCs) for blocks T6 and T7 in Turkana County.

The Ministry of Water and Sanitation has assured Parliament that adequate safeguards are in place to guarantee water security for communities in Turkana and West Pokot counties as the country moves forward with oil production in the South Lokichar Basin.

Appearing before the Joint Committee of the National Assembly and Senate on Energy during stakeholder engagement on the Field Development Plan (FDP) and Production Sharing Contracts for Blocks T6 and T7, Cabinet Secretary Eng. Appearing before the Joint Parliamentary Committees on Energy, Roads and Transport, Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir said Kenya is adequately prepared to evacuate oil once production begins, insisting that the country is “not starting from zero.”
