The Senate Standing Committee on Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Chaired by Sen David Wakoli(Bungoma) today pressed the Governor of Marsabit County for answers over the management, funding and progress of the Drought Resilience Programme in Northern Kenya (DRPNK), as lawmakers sought clarity on stalled projects, delayed disbursements and the overall impact of the multiyear initiative on food security in the region.

The Senate Committee on Labour and Social Welfare, chaired by Sen Julius Murgor (West Pokot), today intensified scrutiny of government lapses in making public buildings accessible to Persons With Disabilities (PWDs), warning that long-standing inaction has left constitutional rights suspended in limbo.

 

𝐒𝐄𝐍𝐀𝐓𝐄 𝐒𝐄𝐓 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐍𝐘𝐀𝐌𝐈𝐑𝐀 𝐆𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐍𝐎𝐑 𝐀𝐌𝐎𝐒 𝐍𝐘𝐀𝐑𝐈𝐁𝐎`𝐒 𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐀𝐋

All preparations have been finalised for the Senate to begin impeachment hearings against Nyamira County Governor Amos Kimwomi Nyaribo, with proceedings slated for Wednesday 3 and Thursday 4 December 2025. The plenary hearings, during which the full House will convene as a trial court are expected to be closely watched as Senators decide the Governor’s political future.

The Senate is set to convene this Thursday, 27th November 2025, to consider the impeachment charges levelled against Nyamira Governor Amos Kimwomi Nyaribo. This follows an official notice issued by the Speaker of the Senate, Amason Jeffah Kingi, in accordance with the Constitution of Kenya, the County Governments Act and the Senate Standing Orders.

President William Ruto has paid glowing tribute to Parliament for what he described as its immense contribution to Kenya’s progress over the past three years, affirming that the country’s achievements are the result of collective effort across all arms of government and the citizenry. Addressing the bicameral Parliament and by extension the entire nation, the President delivered a wide-ranging State of the Nation address that reviewed his administration’s record, acknowledged challenges and setbacks and set out a bold roadmap for future development.
