Today, the Senate Committee on Justice, Legal Affairs, and Human Rights, chaired by Senator Wakili Hillary Sigei, questioned commissioners from the National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC) in response to a statement by Senator Hamida Kibwana. This statement raised concerns about gender-based violence in the Kenyan political arena.

 

𝐔𝐒𝐄 𝐎𝐅 𝐂𝐔𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐌𝐈𝐙𝐄𝐃 𝐑𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐍𝐔𝐄 𝐂𝐎𝐋𝐋𝐄𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐌𝐀𝐍𝐀𝐆𝐄𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐒𝐘𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐌𝐒 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐀𝐑𝐄 𝐍𝐎𝐓 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐏𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐁𝐋𝐄 𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐇 𝐈𝐅𝐌𝐈𝐒 𝐈𝐒 𝐈𝐋𝐋𝐄𝐆𝐀𝐋, 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐄𝐍𝐀𝐓𝐄 𝐈𝐂𝐓 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐌𝐈𝐓𝐓𝐄𝐄 𝐓𝐄𝐋𝐋 𝐆

The Senate Committee on Information, Communication and Technology has urged county governments to integrate their revenue collection and management systems to be compatible with the national Government’s revenue management system. 

 

This comes after the Controller of Budget (Dr.) Margaret Nyakang’o informed the Senators that many counties have developed customized revenue management systems through private developers, which aren’t based on the Standard Charts of Accounts and aren’t compatible with the Integrated Financial Management Information System (IFMIS).

Energy Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir has assured the Senate that the victims of the recent gas explosion in Embakasi, Nairobi, will receive compensation. 

 

The CS told Members of Energy Committee that the matter of compensation of the victims is under consideration but cautioned that the matter could be delayed because disaster management is not under is docket.
