Today, the Senate Committee on Justice, Legal Affairs, and Human Rights, chaired by Senator Wakili Hillary Sigei, questioned commissioners from the National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC) in response to a statement by Senator Hamida Kibwana. This statement raised concerns about gender-based violence in the Kenyan political arena.
The Senate Committee on Information, Communication and Technology has urged county governments to integrate their revenue collection and management systems to be compatible with the national Government’s revenue management system.
This comes after the Controller of Budget (Dr.) Margaret Nyakang’o informed the Senators that many counties have developed customized revenue management systems through private developers, which aren’t based on the Standard Charts of Accounts and aren’t compatible with the Integrated Financial Management Information System (IFMIS).
