A Report on the proposed appointment of former Machakos Senator Johnston Muthama as a Member of the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) has been tabled in the National Assembly..

The Report was tabled yesterday in accordance with the provisions of Article 127 of the Constitution and section 9 of the Parliamentary Service Act, 2019, that requires Parliament to appoint a person (male) as a Member of the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC).

National Assembly Speaker the Rt. Hon. Moses Wetang'ula has called on the Members of the National Assembly to rise to the occasion and transact as much business as possible during the Second Session of the 13th Parliament in the greater interest of the Kenyan people.

The Departmental Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs (JLAC) is set to conduct vetting and approval hearings for the nominee of the position of Solicitor-General, Hon. Shadrack John Mose. This follows the appointment of the former Kitutu Masaba MP by H.E. President (Dr.) William Ruto.

The National Assembly is set to resume from the long recess on Tuesday 14th February 2023, to a busy Second Session of the 13th Parliament. 

The session is set to benefit from the strengthened and enhanced knowledge on parliamentary practices and procedures imparted on the lawmakers during the recent Induction of House Committees and the Post-Election Seminar co-hosted by the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) in Mombasa, Kenya two weeks ago.

The Senate Liaison Office hosted a delegation from the County Assembly Service Board of Baringo. The delegation was led by County Assembly Speaker Hon. Vincent Kemboi accompanied by Majority Leader Hon. Lawi Tallam, Hon. Julius Ng’otie, Hon. Wesley Lekakimon, Commissioner Nelly Amdany and technical staff. 

The main objective of the benchmarking visit was to enhance knowledge, of how to effectively manage ward office operations and to understand the dynamics of managing partisan and nonpartisan staff. 

 The County Public Accounts Committee (CPAC) has started considering Auditor General’s reports of the 47 County Governments.

Governor Mutahi Kahiga was the first county boss to appear before the Committee to defend the revenue and expenditure accounts of his administration since the 13th Parliament was elected in August 2022.

The Governor appeared before the Committee, which is chaired by Homa Bay senator Moses Kajwang, on Wednesday, February 8, 2023.
