Speaker of the National Assembly, Rt. Hon (Dr.) Moses Wetang’ula on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 called upon Members to prioritize and prepare adequately for the upcoming House business, some of which have statutory timelines.

𝐒𝐄𝐍𝐀𝐓𝐄 𝐀𝐒𝐊𝐒 𝐆𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐍𝐎𝐑𝐒 𝐓𝐎 𝐔𝐓𝐈𝐋𝐈S𝐄 𝐅𝐔𝐍𝐃𝐒 𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐎𝐂𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐃 𝐓𝐎 𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐓𝐈𝐄𝐒 𝐏𝐑𝐔𝐃𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐋𝐘.

The Senate Deputy Speaker and Chairperson, Senate Liaison Committee, Senator Kathuri Murungi has urged Governors to prudently utilise funds recently allocated to counties.

 

The Deputy Speaker said the Senate played a crucial role in ensuring that counties received Kshs 400.1 billion up from Kshs 385 billion for the 2024/25 financial year, which he noted, was the highest amount of shareable revenue since the advent of devolution.

The Departmental Committee on Trade, Industry and Cooperatives has resolved to engage the Ministry of Trade, Investments and Industry and other key stakeholders in the edible oils sub-sector in an effort to address the escalating prices of cooking oil.

This decision was arrived at by the Committee during a meeting with a group of edible oil manufacturers in the country. The said meeting was chaired by Vice-Chairperson, Hon. Marianne Kitany (Aldai).
