The Joint Committee on National Cohesion and Equal opportunity.
The Joint Committee on National Cohesion and Equal Opportunity shall is appointed under S.O. No. 214. Its role is to: -
There are currently 290 members elected by registered votes , 47 women elected by registered voters from the counties, 12 members nominated by parliamentary political parties to represent special interests of youth, persons with disabilities and workers, and the Speaker of the National Assembly. List of Members of Parliament of the 13th Parliament by Parties as at 22nd May 2023.
Standing Order No. 2 provide for a Member designated by a parliamentary party as its party whip for the purposes of the transaction of business in the National Assembly. In parliamentary traditions and practices, Majority and Minority whips perform the following roles:-
Ensuring that Members of the National Assembly of their respective parties attend to House business particularly when there is contentious business to be transacted with a view to ensuring that each party’s policy stance/agenda is passed;
