Speaker of the Senate Amason Jeffah Kingi today addressed a session of the Parliamentary Conference on South-South Cooperation in Rabat, Morocco on the role of parliaments in Conflict Resolution and Climate Change mitigation, as a way of creating and enhancing opportunities for sustainable development in Southern hemisphere countries..

 

The forum, which is attended by leaderships of parliaments and parliamentary unions from Africa, the Arab World and Latin America, provided an ideal platform for formulation of plausible strategies and mechanisms for addressing these challenges to foster development.

 

The Speaker emphasized the need for parliaments to be at the heart of interventions meant to make lives of populations better through effective representation, prudent legislation and diligent oversight.

 

Speaker Kingi also held deliberations with H.E. Mr Enaam Mayara, Speaker of the House of Councillors of the Kingdom of Morocco and current President of the Association of Senates, Shoora, and Equivalent Councils in Africa and the Arab World (ASSECAA) on matters of mutual interest to our two Parliaments and countries.
