The National Assembly will convene for special sittings on Thursday, January 16th, 2025.

The Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Moses Wetang'ula authorized the special sitting upon a request from the Leader of the Majority Party, Hon. Kimani Inchung'wa.

The special sittings will be held in two sessions; a morning session starting at 10.00 am and an afternoon session commencing at 2.30 pm.

Members are expected to consider the mediated version of the County Governments Additional Allocations Bill (Senate Bill No. 19 of 2024) subject to conclusion of the mediation process.

Lawmakers will also commence debate on the Report of the Departmental Committee on Labour on its consideration of nominees for appointment as Chairperson and members of the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) and the Report of the Committee on Appointments on its consideration of nominees for appointment as Cabinet Secretaries.

Members of the National Assembly will also consider the Report of the Departmental Committee on Defence, Intelligence and Foreign Relations on its consideration of nominees for appointment as High Commissioners, Ambassadors, Permanent Representative and Consul-General.

During the sittings, debate on the Report of the Departmental Committee on Labour on its consideration of nominees for appointment as Vice-Chairperson and members of the Public Service Commission will also take place.

The House will also consider in Committee of the whole House of the following the Startup Bill (Senate Bill No. 14 of 2022); and the Persons with Disabilities Bill (Senate Bill No. 7 of 2023).
