The Senate Standing Committee on Finance and Budget in a session chaired by Mandera County Senator Ali Roba, today met with the Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning Prof. Njuguna Ndungβu to deliberate on the appropriation of the Equalization Fund.
The Cabinet Secretary Prof. Njuguna Ndung'u gave his submissions to the committee on the equalization fund entitlement and allocation since inception and the proposed plan on appropriation of equalization fund arrears.
βIt is important to note that in the FY 2023/24 budget the Equalization Fund has been allocated Ksh. 10.9 billion, this includes Equalization Fund allocation for FY 2023/24 and arrears from FY 2021/22,β submitted the CS.
βThis will be used to fund the now assented Equalization Fund Appropriation Act, 2023," he added.
Other members present during the meeting were Sen. Eddy Oketch, Sen. Shakila Abdalla and Sen.Mohamed Faki.
