The National Assembly Public Investments Committee on Governance and Education, chaired by Hon. Jack Wamboka (Bumula)  met with officers from various technical institutions to address the audit queries raised in the reports of the Auditor General.

The meeting was called to shed light on a range of concerns, including financial impropriety, erroneous financial statements, hiring of unlicensed trainers, unvalued assets, non-compliance with ethnic diversity and a lack of comprehensive management policies.

The Institutions that appeared before the Committee were; Nyandarua National Polytechnic, Gatanga Technical and Vocational College, Mathenge Technical Training Institute, Mathioya Technical and Vocational College, Tetu Technical and Vocational College and Mukurwe-Ini Technical Training Institute.

The Committee urged the institutions to strengthen their financial reporting frameworks, conduct regular audits, and rectify any inconsistencies to provide a true and fair representation of their financial positions.

Additionally, the meeting highlighted the need to accurately value assets held by the institutions. The Committee urged the institution to implement comprehensive asset valuation processes to accurately reflect their assets' worth.

Members further emphasized the importance of fair and transparent hiring processes, encouraging institutions to embrace diversity and equal opportunities for all qualified candidates.
