HOUSE TEAM KICKS OFF NATIONWIDE PUBLIC PARTICIPATION ON PUBLIC PARTICIPATION BILL, 2025

The National Assembly’s Justice and Legal Affairs Committee (JLAC) has commenced a nationwide public participation exercise on the Public Participation Bill (National Assembly Bill No. 44), 2025, in a move aimed at strengthening citizen engagement in governance and law-making.


The Bill, co-sponsored by Rarieda MP, Hon. Otiende Amollo and Ainabkoi MP, Hon. Samuel Chepkonga seeks to provide a  legal framework to guide how public participation is conducted across government institutions.

KEDIPA CALLS FOR INCLUSIVE REFORMS

The Deputy Speaker, Hon. Gladys Boss has today officially opened the Kenya Disability Parliamentary Association (KEDIPA) forum on behalf of the Speaker, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Moses Wetang’ula, calling for practical reforms to address persistent barriers facing persons with disabilities.

National Assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Moses Wetang’ula says clean Water is a critical resource for homes, institutions, and the nation at large.

Speaker Wetang’ula was speaking Thursday morning while hosting H.E Kang Hyungshik, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Kenya, at Parliament Buildings.

The Blue Economy, Water and Irrigation has raised concerns over a proposal by the State Department for Blue Economy and Fisheries seeking Kshs. 991 million to facilitate the hosting of the 11th Our Ocean Conference scheduled for June this year.

During a meeting to review Supplementary Estimates 1 for FY 2025/26, Members questioned the size of the allocation and sought clarification on the breakdown of the expenditure.
