The Mediation Committee on the Division of Revenue Bill, 2025 (National Assembly Bills No. 10 of 2025) has reached a final agreement on a Kshs. 415 billion allocation for the County Equitable Share for the Financial Year 2025/26.

𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐒𝐄 𝐆𝐑𝐄𝐄𝐍𝐋𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐒 𝐖𝐈𝐋𝐃𝐋𝐈𝐅𝐄 𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐌𝐀𝐍𝐀𝐆𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓 (𝐀𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐃𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓) 𝐁𝐈𝐋𝐋

The National Assembly has passed the Wildlife Conservation and Management (Amendment) Bill (National Assembly Bill No. 3 of 2023).

The Bill sponsored by Hon. Cap. Ruweida Obo seeks to amend the Wildlife Conservation and Management Act, No. 47 of 2013 to include sharks, stone fish, whales and sting rays among the wildlife species in respect of which compensation as a result of death and injury may be paid.

𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐆 𝐏𝐄𝐎𝐏𝐋𝐄 𝐆𝐄𝐓 𝐌𝐀𝐉𝐎𝐑 𝐁𝐎𝐎𝐒𝐓 𝐈𝐍 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓/𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐍𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐀𝐋 𝐁𝐔𝐃𝐆𝐄𝐓

The 2025/2026 budget, unveiled by Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning, Hon. John Mbadi Ng’ongo, prioritizes young people as key beneficiaries. Presenting the Ksh 4.29 trillion spending plan in the National Assembly, CS Mbadi highlighted that the budget aims to revive the economy, create jobs, and support small businesses.

Young Kenyans stand to gain significantly from the budget, with billions of shillings allocated to sectors that empower and build the capacity of this important demographic group.

The National Assembly Departmental Committee on Education has assured university staff of its commitment to resolving ongoing welfare and governance concerns at Moi University, following a meeting with officials from the Kenya University Staff Union (KUSU), Moi University Chapter.

Appearing before the Committee, the union officials presented a memorandum outlining grievances related to staff redundancy, financial challenges, and long-standing human resource issues that have strained the institution.

Lawmakers have reacted to the FY 2025/26 Budget Estimates totaling to Kshs 4.2T that was presented by the National Treasury and Economic Planning Cabinet Secretary, Hon. John Mbadi.

The National Assembly Deputy Speaker, Hon. Gladys Boss, stated that what the CS had presented is a people’s budget since he had taken into account the issues that Kenyans raised during the FY 2024/25 Finance Bill protests.

The Mediation Committee established to reconcile differences between the National Assembly and the Senate on the Division of Revenue Bill, 2025 (National Assembly Bills No. 10 of 2025) is set to commence sittings tomorrow, Friday, June 13, 2025.

At the heart of the mediation is the contested allocation to the County Governments’ Equitable Share for the 2025/26 Financial Year. The National Assembly had proposed an allocation of Kshs. 405.1 billion, while the Senate amended the figure upward to Kshs. 465 billion, a significant increase of Kshs. 60 billion.
