The Senate Speaker Rt. Hon. Amason Jeffah Kingi has urged the private sector to proactively explore opportunities arising from climate change to promote sustainable development in Kenya.

 

In his opening remarks at the Speaker’s Roundtable engagement with the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) in Mombasa County on Wednesday morning, Speaker Kingi emphasized the importance of exploring opportunities in renewable energy, the carbon market, and green construction.

The Senate Committees on Devolution and Intergovernmental Relations and the Committee on Justice, Legal Affairs, and Human Rights, co-chaired by Senators Mohamed Abass and Raphael Chimera, convened today to deliberate on a petition submitted by Mr. Laban Omusundi. The petition addresses the issue of county governments hiring external law firms to represent them in court cases, despite having County Government Attorneys mandated to perform this role.
