Lusaka to World Parliamentarians: Link Parliaments with Tech Community to Improve Citizens’ Welfare

Geneva, Switzerland | 16th October – The Speaker of the Senate, Rt Hon Kenneth Lusaka, Tuesday addressed the 139th General Assembly of the Inter-parliamentary Union (IPU) where he urged parliamentarians to use their institutions to improve the welfare of citizens by being the link with the tech and innovation community.

“Science, Technology and Innovation hold the answer to most of the fundamental challenges that confront humanity and indeed parliamentarians in the course of its work,” said Speaker Lusaka.

This is the maiden such engagement since the inception of the 12th Parliament.

Speaker Muturi Meets the new SRC Commissioners

The Speaker of the National Assembly Hon. Justin Muturi this morning held talks with the new Commissioners at the Salaries and Remuneration Commission. The Commissioners led by the Chairperson Ms. Lyn Cherop Mengich and the Vice Chairperson, Hon. Dalmas Otieno, had called on the Speaker in Parliament, in his capacity as the Chairperson, Parliamentary Service Commission.

Bureau of Speakers of EAC endorse Kenya’s Bid to Host EAPI

_JUBA, South Sudan | 21st September_ – The Bureau of Speakers of the East African Community has today endorsed Kenya’s bid to host the East African Parliamentary Institute (EAPI).

While advancing Kenya’s proposal to host EAPI, at the 12th Meeting of the Bureau, Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon Justin Muturi and Speaker of the Senate, Rt. Hon Kenneth Lusaka noted that Kenya is best placed to host the institute.
