The Senate Standing Committee on Finance and Budget chaired by Mandera County Senator Ali Roba this Tuesday held a meeting with the Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA) and the Council of Governors (CoG) led by the Council`s Chairperson, Governor Anne Waiguru where they deliberated on the Division of Revenue Bill, 2024.

The Division of Revenue Bill, 2024 was introduced in the National Assembly, debated and passed without amendments in March 2024 before being referred to the Senate for consideration as stipulated by Article 110(4) of the Constitution.

It was read a First Time in the Senate on Wednesday March 27, 2024 and thereafter committed to the Standing Committee on Finance and Budget for consideration and facilitation of public participation pursuant to Standing Order 145.

In its submission, the Council of Governors proposed a minimum allocation of Ksh.439.5 billion for FY 2024/25 as sharable revenue.

The Governors appealed to the Committee and the Senate at large to strongly support Devolution by ensuring resources are channeled to Counties as required by the Constitution.

Members present during the meeting were Mandera County Senator Ali Roba, Kakamega Senator Dr. Boni Khalwale, Mombasa County Senator Mohamed Faki, Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka, Sen. Shakila Mohamed and Migori Senator Eddy Oketch.
