Speaker of the Senate Amason Jeffah Kingi, EGH has appealed to leaders to embrace and preach peace across the country.

Speaking during the National Prayer Breakfast held this Thursday, Speaker Kingi noted the need for leaders to be on the forefront in preaching peace and reconciliation among Kenyans for a better Kenya.

β€œWe must now adorn the mantle of ambassadors of peace, unity and reconciliation at the grassroots as we engage with the people we represent,” said Speaker Kingi.

β€œParliamentary Diplomacy must constantly find expression in our daily undertakings as the people’s representatives. We must use every opportunity to rally our people to live in harmony, remain law-abiding and dedicated to nation-building,” he emphasized.

He appealed to leaders to carry on with the spirit and objective of the National Prayer Breakfast and avoid making it just a one-day engagement.

He commended Members of Parliament for upholding and sustaining the tradition of the Annual National Prayer Breakfast in our country adding that through the initiative, members of parliament convey how they can work together regardless of political affiliations.

Noting the various challenges that have faced the country in the recent past among them deaths as a result of floods, the tragic accident that killed the Chief of Kenya Defence Forces, Senator Kingi asked Kenyans to embrace hope in order to overcome.

β€˜I am firmly persuaded that there is never a better time to embrace Hope, than when we are navigating the open seas of tough circumstances that life inevitably brings our way,” said Speaker Kingi.

He commended President William Ruto and all political and religious leaders who graced this year`s occasion that was organized by the Senate.

β€œI also thank in a special way, the sponsors and every individual and organization that extended a hand of support that has enabled us put together this memorable event,” he added.

This year`s National Prayer Breakfast was graced by among others the delegations from the United States of America, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Zambia, Germany and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
