Senate Standing Committee on Roads, Transportation and Housing Chaired by Kiambu Senator Senator Karungo Thangwa, held a meeting today to consider several statements and petitions. 

The committee considered Statement by Sen. (Dr.) Lelegwe Ltumbesi regarding status of implementation of the Lamu Port South-Sudan-Ethiopia Transport Corridor (LAPSSET) project in Samburu County,

Statement by Sen. Beatrice Ogolla regarding death of boda boda riders and their passengers by sugarcane trailers of a local sugar miller (Sukari Industry) in Ndhiwa Constituency. 

The Committee also looked at the Statement by Sen. Shakila Abdalla regarding delay in compensation by the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) to fishermen in Lamu County affected by the LAPPSET Corridor project.

The Committee also considered submissions from County Government of Mombasa and Buxton Point Apartments Ltd. to a petition on eviction and demolition of Buxton Estate, Mombasa.

The Committee resolved to invite Cabinet Secretary for Roads, Transport and Housing, Sen. Kipchumba Murkomen to elaborate more on the statements by Senators.
