COMMITTEE CHAIR CONGRATULATES NEW CDF
Chairperson of the National Assembly Departmental Committee on Defence, Intelligence and Foreign Relations Hon. Nelson Koech has congratulated the newly appointed Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Lt. Gen. Francis Ogolla.
Hon. Koech described Lt. Gen. Ogolla's promotion to the helm of the Kenyan Military from his previous rank as Vice-Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces as "professionally, intellectually and most solidly well deserved".
Hon. Koech recounted the Committee's most recent interactions with the new CDF during inhouse meetings with the Defence Ministry and on Site Inspection tours of several military installations.
"Our most recent engagements were at the Committee familiarization retreat with the Ministry in Mombasa, at the Site Inspection Tour of Mtongwe Navy Base, and during the Committee Visit to Uhuru Gardens National Monument and Museum," said Hon. Koech.
The Committee Chair said Lt. Gen. Ogolla's promotion was the perfect illustration of the valued professionalism of the Kenyan Military.
Lt. Gen. Ogolla takes over from outgoing CDF, General Robert Kibuchi who vacated the helm of the Kenyan Military after 44 years of Professional Service.
The Changes were announced earlier today by H.E President William Ruto where he also appointed Lt. Gen. Jonah Mwangi as the new Vice Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces.
Among Lt. Gen.Mwangi's administrative duties will be routine interaction with the Defence Committee on oversight matters relating to the Department of Defence.
