National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula led Members of the Parliament and Senate in celebrating the life of Johana Ng'eno, MP Emurua Dikirr, and five others.

In his capacity as the Chairman of the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC), Speaker Wetang’ula commended the Parliament team tasked to organise funeral plans for the victims of the Nandi helicopter crash that claimed the lives of six on board.

Alongside Deputy President H.E. Prof. Kithure Kindiki, Senate Speaker, the Rt. Hon. Amason Kingi, several Governors, and Members of Parliament convened to pay tribute to the fallen soldiers in a joint memorial service held on Wednesday, 4th March, 2026, at the AGC Church in Karen.

"My previous engagements with Hon. Ngeno demonstrated the qualities of a firm leader who ensured that any decision he took was in favour of the people he represented”, noted Speaker Wetang’ula.

Speaker Wetang’ula said the late MP Ng'eno was a selfless, astute leader who served his constituents and the people of Kenya with great zeal and determination.

"This is a principled leader who defended every decision he made. He was a good person with a clean heart."

Hon. Wetang’ula eulogized the late Pilot George Were, describing him as a diligent person.

"Accidents do happen; it happened, all we can do is celebrate their lives and pray that such an accident never happens again. We pray that their souls rest in Peace."

Speaker Wetang’ula revealed that he and his entourage had used the ill-fated aircraft barely two weeks before it went down, even as he demonstrated the unpredictability and risks associated with air travel, particularly during unstable weather conditions.

Dr. Wetang’ula cautioned Kenyans against making uninformed opinions on the cause of the accident, calling on the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority to re-examine ways of enhancing the safety of pilots and their passengers using air services, particularly during adverse weather.

"As we pray for the souls of the departed to find eternal rest, I urge Members to join the families in the final interment ceremony set for Friday," mourned Hon. Wetang’ula.
