National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangβula has praised the late MP, Hon. Johana Ngeβno, as a dedicated progressive legislator who cared for his constituents and the country.
Speaker Wetangβula described the late Ng'eno as a straightforward legislator and a principled man.
Alongside President William Ruto, Deputy President Prof Kindiki Kithure, Cabinet Secretaries, Several Governors, and Members of Parliament convened at Emurua Dikirr for the final burial service of the six heroes on Friday, 6th March, 2026.
He praised the late MP for his dedication. βHe said there was not a day the late MP lacked discipline, either in his speech or actions. Parliament has lost one of its finest,β noted the Speaker.
The weather mirrored the mood, making the farewell even more poignant.
The Speaker observed that the atmosphere during the burial, heavy with the sound of rain, was a testament to the cry the people have had for the departed soul.
The Speaker pointed out that he had known the late Ng'eno in 2006, when Ng'eno was entering politics with the intention of contesting the Kilgoris Parliamentary seat.
Hon. Wetangβula emphasized that the attendance of most legislators at the burial was a sign of the great friendship Hon. Ngeβno invested in.
"He has walked his journey. God has rested him. God has never suffered from memory loss; he had plans for the late Ng'eno. His legacy will live on," he assured.
Representing the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC), Dr. Wetangβula said that within their legal powers and responsibilities, they will look into the welfare of Ng'eno's Parliamentary staff.
"To the people of Emurua Dikirr, you have lost your first and last line of defense. God gives and takes. He gave again," mourned Speaker.
Quoting Tanzania writer Shaaban Robert in his book "Maisha Yangu na Baada ya Miaka Hamsini", Speaker Wetangβula said the late Ng'eno walked his journey and looked forward. Still, God told him his journey had come to an end.
" As the National Assembly and the Senate, we pray for all the affected families,β consoled Speaker Wetag'ula.
Speaker Wetangβula commended the Ad. Hoc Funeral Planning Committee, led by Hon. Julius Melly, for great coordination of the event despite the wet season, to ensure that everything runs smoothly. Β
