The Parliamentary Ad Hoc Funeral Planning Committee, chaired by Tinderet MP, Hon. Julius Melly, has announced that the late Emurua Dikirr MP. Hon. Johana Ng'eno, and three others will be laid to rest on Friday, 6th March, 2026.
The Committee settled on the date after consultations with family members, the National Assembly Speaker and the Office of the President.
"Upon consultation with the families of the late MP.Β Hon. Ng'eno and four others, it is agreed that the late Hon. Johana Ng'eno and three others will be laid to rest on Friday, 6th March, 2026 while the other body will beΒ Β laid to rest on Saturday, March 7th 2026," said Hon. Melly.
Hon. Melly confirmed that the three who will be buried alongside Hon. Ngβeno as Mr. Carlos Keter, Mr. Amos Rotich, and Mr. Wycliffe Rono.
Mr. Nicholas Kosgei will be buried a day later, on Saturday, March 7, while the family of Captain George Were who was also on board will announce his burial date after his children arrive from abroad.
Hon. Melly led Ad Hoc Committee announced that there will be a Joint Church Service in Nairobi at AGC in Karen for all the victims on Wednesday March 4th, 2026.
Further, Members of the Committee confirmed that the five victims will be airlifted to Emurua Dikirr on Thursday, 5th March 2026 where there will be another joint requiem mass at a school in Emurua DikirrΒ then after which the remains of the four victims will be taken to their respective homes for final rites in accordance with traditions.
Hon. Melly noted that Parliament, the County Government of Narok, and the Office of the President would share responsibility for the funeral arrangements to ease the familiesβ burden.
"Parliament together with the County Government of Narok and Office of the President will take charge of funeral expenses to alleviate burden on the bereaved families and grant them time to mourn their loved ones," said Hon. Melly.
