The Public Investment Committee on Commercial Affairs and Energy has raised a red flag over land ownership challenges affecting the Kenya Pipeline Corporation (KPC) and the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA).

Speaking during a session in Mombasa on Wednesday 8th, Committee Chairperson Hon. David Pkosing said that there is need to safeguard government land from encroachment.

The National Assembly’s Departmental Committee on Regional Development has urged the government to allocate funds for the completion of stalled development projects in the Western and Nyanza regions.

The Committee commended the progress made by the Lake Basin Development Authority (LBDA) on various projects stating that the projects once completed will help bolster the region's economy.

The Communication Information and Innovation Committee chaired by Hon John Kiarie (Dagoretti South) met with the Principal Secretary, Information Communication Technology (ICT), Eng. John Tanui and the Konza Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mr. John Paul who appeared to submit their proposed amendments to the Technopolis Bill, 2024.

The National Assembly Select Committee on the Proposed Dismissal of the Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture and Livestock, Hon. Franklin Mithika Linturi held a pre-trial hearing today, Tuesday, May 7, 2024. 

The 11-Member Committee, led by Chairperson Naomi Waqo (Marsabit County), met with the concerned parties; the sponsor of the Motion, Hon. Jack Wamboka and his legal representatives led by Senior Counsel, Dr. John Khaminwa  as well as the CS, Linturi and his team led  by Senior Counsel, Dr. Muthomi Thiankolu.

The government will deal mercilessly with people propagating criminal activities across the country.

 

Appearing before the Senate to respond to questions by the Senators, Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Pro. Kithure Kindiki said the government will mercilessly deal with drug traffickers, terrorists and people facilitation and carrying out organized criminal activities.

 

KISII DG IMPEACHMENT HEARING EXTENDS LATE INTO THE NIGHT ON DAY ONE

Kisii Deputy Governor Dr Robert Monda faced a Senate plenary on Wednesday, denying charges of gross misconduct, abuse of office, violating the Constitution and crimes under national law.

Dr Monda is accused of improperly soliciting KES. 800,000 from Dennis Mokaya and his family to secure a job at the Gusii Water and Sanitation Company (GWASCO). He allegedly then sent KES. 100,000 to GWASCO's Managing Director to influence Mokaya's employment, but this request was rejected.

The Public Petitions Committee led by Vice Chairperson, Hon. Janet Sitienei (Turbo) met with Hon. Hon. Chiforomodo Mangale (Lunga Lunga) who was presenting a petition on behalf of a section of residents from Kidomaya and Miungoni Villages in Vanga Ward of Lunga Lunga Constituency.

The petitioners want the National Assembly to intervene in a matter that has seen residents of the two villages in Vanga Ward embroiled in a tussle over 1,506 acres of land which they have occupied for more than 35 years.

The Senate Committee on County Public Investments and Special Funds today held a meeting with Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika. The focus of the meeting was to review the Auditor-General's reports on the Nakuru County Emergency Fund and Nakuru Bursary Fund, covering the fiscal years from 2020 to 2022.
